I am currently working as Senior Marketing Executive for BJP a not-for-profit, an academic publisher specialised in Orthopaedics with responsibility for marketing their portfolio of academic subscription and Open Access journals. My duties include:
I was covering two roles between different departments within Hart Publishing, Bloomsbury Professional. My split role required me to be organised and versatile. Editorial: Managing manuscript timelines for the weekly schedules within Biblio3 and Excel, Regular liaison with authors (lawyers, academics, barristers, judges) to keep an accurate track of which titles are expected to enter production. Constant contact with authors about their manuscripts, delivery times, formatting, etc. Liaising with the head designer at Bloomsbury, Hart editor and authors to produce marketable and unique covers. Marketing: Liaison with legal journals, academic journals, newspapers, blogs and various media outlets to promote Hart books. Responsible for uploading, organising and managing review lists, i.e. handling which quotations will be used for the website, maintaining long-standing relationships with journals, filing every review written; keeping track of books sent for review and reviews received. Contacting various associations and societies for promotional purposes Producing flyers and promotional work using InDesign, Excel, Biblio3 Website maintenance (ad-hoc) Customer services: Handling customer and distributor relations to maintain positive relationships Managing the general Hart mailbox, thus dealing with publishing enquiries, orders, inspection copies, reviews.
